Barcelona are said to be in advanced talks with Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso, with the Spaniard eager to return to his homeland.
Marcos Alonso’s six-year connection with Chelsea could come to an end this summer, as the left-back plans to return to Spain, according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports Barcelona are waiting in the wings for the Real Madrid academy graduate.
With Ben Chilwell out for the majority of the season due to a serious knee injury, Alonso has been a staple in the Blues’ defensive line, starting 37 of his 45 appearances in all competitions for the Blues this season.

With Alonso’s contract expiring in the summer of 2023, Barcelona’s ability to complete a move for the left-back will be determined by Alonso’s price tag, and Chelsea are yet to make a decision.
Alonso’s Leaving Affect Chelsea?
Alonso has been an excellent utility player for Chelsea, filling in when needed and doing an excellent job. However, given his status as a backup left back, removing him may not have a significant impact on Chelsea’s current scenario.
Chilwell is Chelsea’s first-choice left full-back, despite being hampered by injury this season, and at only 25, he will continue to dominate the position for years to come. If Alonso stays, he’ll have to make do with a supporting role next season.
