Mane Nets As Bayern Defeats RB Leipzig To Lift German Super Cup

Bayern Munich defeated RB Leipzig 5-3 to win the German Super Cup on Saturday at the Red Bull Arena, and it took Sadio Mane just 31 minutes to score his first goal for the Bundesliga champions.

After Bayern’s teenage wonder Jamal Musiala had tied the game for them, the Senegal international scored the team’s second goal.

Serge Gnabry, a former Arsenal striker, was established by Germany midfielder Musiala for his team’s second goal, and the former Arsenal player selflessly crossed to an open Sadio Mane on the right, who finished with a low shot on his weaker left foot.

The defending Bundesliga champions defeated DFB Cup holders RB Leipzig in the customary season-opener for the German top division as Mane scored on his first shot on goal and had two additional attempts disallowed for offside.

Mane finished the first half of play with 13 touches, a pass completion percentage of 71.4%, and victories in two of his three duels. He and Dani Olmo of Leipzig each got five total shots, which was the most in the game.

Including his goal against DC United in a preseason friendly, Mane has now scored twice in as many games for Bayern on the team’s summer tour of the US.

When his new club kicks up their Bundesliga championship defense against Europa League holders Eintracht Frankfurt on August 5, he will have the chance to make it three in a row.

In addition to the African Player of the Year, Africa Cup of Nations, Afcon Player of the Tournament, English League and FA Cups, the German Super Cup is Mane’s sixth individual and team prize of the year.

The former Liverpool forward spent much of his time on the right side of Bayern’s attack as coach Julian Nagelsmann used a 3-5-2 system with Thomas Mueller and Sadio Mane as the center forwards. Gnabry and Alfonso Davies acted as the wingbacks.

Mane told Bundesliga.com. “Wow! What a day,” .”Of course, I’m really, really happy to win my first game, first trophy. You can’t complain. Like I said, from the first day I’m really happy to be part of this great club.”

“It was easy to adapt with all those boys because they make it easier for me. I’m really happy to be part of this group, this club. What a joy”

“It was a great decision to play in the Bundesliga. I’m happy to win this trophy. And I’m really looking forward to winning more trophies.”
