However, their performances have been below par as Erik ten Hag’s men currently sit sixth in the Premier League, six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Their European campaign ended prematurely after a dismal Champions League group stage.

Looking ahead to the summer transfer window, it has been reported that United have already got four players on their shortlist.

According to the Daily Mail, United’s new minority owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team are looking to bring in two young centre-backs.

It has been reported that Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite is on the Old Trafford club’s shortlist.

However, United are set to face competition from Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Apart from Branthwaite, United are believed to be keeping tabs on Benfica’s Antonio Silva, Jean Clair Todibo at Nice and Lille youngster Leny Yoro.

It has been claimed that Yoro has also caught the eyes of Madrid.

According to Football Insider, Everton could sell Branthwaite for a ‘big fee’ this summer.
