Manchester United want Calvert-Lewin as they eye more firepower after signing Sancho

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer.

The Red Devils confirmed on Thursday that they have agreed a £73million deal with Borussia Dortmund to sign the striker’s England team-mate Jadon Sancho.

And according to The Sun, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side want to strengthen their attack further by adding Calvert-Lewin to their squad.

The 24-year-old scored 21 goals in all competitions for the Toffees last season and his form was rewarded with a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Euros.

However, he was left out of the squad to face Germany and has made just one substitute appearance in the tournament so far.

The forward has also been linked with a move to Real Madrid, which would see him join former Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian left Goodison Park in June and has since been replaced by Rafa Benitez.

Calvert-Lewin was named Everton’s Player of the Year for the 2020-2021 season and the club will be desperate to keep hold of him.

The former Sheffield United man is under contract until 2025, meaning the Toffees are under no pressure to sell.

They are also looking to push on under Benitez and majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri has ambitions for the club to reach the Champions League.
