Manchester United to conclude £77m Sancho deal before the start of Euros

Manchester United are reportedly desperate to wrap up a £77million deal for Jadon Sancho as soon as possible so they can get their marquee signing at Old Trafford before Euro 2020 begins.

United tried to sign the Borussia Dortmund and England winger last summer but missed the German club’s deadline to complete a move before they returned for pre-season training.

However, 12 months later, United are still in need of a player who can operate on the right of their attack and are now reportedly ready to come back in for Sancho and complete a deal quickly.

According to German newspaper BILD, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Sancho, 21, at Old Trafford before he joins up with England for this summer’s Euro 2020 finals.

Solskjaer has shifted his focus to signing the winger just 24 hours after tying down striker Edinson Cavani to a new contract.

It had been thought United would be in the market for a new centre forward this summer with the Uruguayan expected to move to Argentina once his contract expired at the end of the season.

United have been strongly linked with a move for either Tottenham forward Harry Kane or Sancho’s Dortmund team-mate Erling Haaland.

But Cavani, 34, committed his future to United by signing a new 12-month deal on Monday and it now seems as though United will turn their attention back to Sancho.

United legend Gary Neville said on Monday night he didn’t think United would buy a striker after Cavani’s commitment and said his former club could look ‘a lot smarter if they get him (Sancho) this time around for half price’.

Sancho is back in red-hot form for Dortmund, who are desperately trying to tie down Champions League qualification in the final weeks of the campaign.

He scored twice, including the match winner, as Dortmund beat rivals RB Leipzig 3-2 last weekend to keep their top-four hopes alive.

After the game, former Manchester City youth player Sancho publicly refused to commit his future to Dortmund after being asked where he will be playing his football next season.

Speaking to reporters at the final whistle, Sancho said: ‘Will I leave the club? I don’t know about my future.

‘I am very happy here in Dortmund at the moment. I love the club, the fans and the team. They gave me my first professional start.’
