Manchester United Prepare To Launch £80m Move For Harry Kane

Manchester United are reportedly preparing to make their move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and are hopeful of securing an £80m deal this summer.

While speculation about his future rages on in the background, the 29-year-old’s contract position in North London remains unchanged.

Kane has the option to leave Tottenham as a free agent at the end of next season, but the Lilywhites will fight tooth and nail to keep their all-time leading goalscorer.

Kane and Tottenham are reported to be in preliminary talks on a new contract right now, as the striker focuses on finishing the season on a high note.

Tottenham are even reported to be willing to extend negotiations into the final year of Kane’s contract, risking losing him for nothing in less than 18 months.

However, the Lilywhites’ willpower will surely be tried this summer, with Man United and Bayern Munich being touted as the two most likely destinations for the 29-year-old.

According to the Daily Star, Man United CEO Richard Arnold has approved an approach, and Erik ten Hag sees the England captain as his main summer target.

The Red Devils are reportedly hoping that £80m will be enough to entice Kane away from the North London club, who are awaiting contact from Man United in the coming weeks.

Tottenham chairman refused to authorize a nine-figure move for Kane to Manchester City in 2021, and he is also unlikely to sell to a direct Premier League rival.

However, with 204 Premier League goals – 56 short of Alan Shearer’s all-time record of 260 – Kane has hinted that he wants to stay in England in order to overtake his compatriot.
