Manchester United Make Decision On Casemiro Red Card Appeal

Manchester United have decided they will not appeal the decision to dismiss Casemiro in Sunday’s draw versus Southampton.

In the opening period the game at Old Trafford, the defensive midfielder brought down Carlos Alcaraz with a high challenge and was given a straight red card.

This meant Casemiro received his second straight red card in his past three Premier League games for Manchester United. He previously received a red card in the team’s victory over Crystal Palace in February.

The Brazilian is now facing a four-game domestic ban as a result of his accumulation of red cards.

Despite the extended suspension, United have stated on their official website that they do not plan to challenge Anthony Taylor’s decision to dismiss Casemiro.

A club statement read: “Manchester UnitedĀ have decided not to appeal against Casemiro’s red card in the 0-0 draw with Southampton.

“After initially being booked by referee Anthony Taylor for the challenge on Carlos Alcaraz in the first half, it was upgraded following a VAR review.

“The punishment is a four-game ban because the Brazil international was also sent off in the home win over Crystal Palace, again when VAR was used in the wake of a multi-player fracas.
