Manchester United Issue Update On Marcus Rashford’s Return

Manchester United have confirmed that Marcus Rashford has returned to training after suffering an injury in their FA Cup quarter-final win over Fulham, but they have also stated that “he will be a concern” for their game against Newcastle United.

On Sunday, Newcastle will host Man United at St. James’ Park in their return to Premier League action.

With a victory, Eddie Howe’s team can take revenge with the Red Devils for their Carabao Cup heartbreak by passing them in the standings and going up to third.

Rashford, who scored against Newcastle at Wembley, was forced to withdraw from England’s team due to injury after picking up a knock in their 3-1 win against Fulham.

Although Man United have since verified that the 25-year-old has returned to training after being seen in New York over the international break, the attacker is still listed as a doubt for the match against Newcastle.

“Marcus Rashford has started his recovery at Carrington after sustaining an injury in our last fixture, the Emirates FA Cup quarter-final win over Fulham,” a club statement read.

“Marcus was able to get out on the grass at our training base on Monday but the Reds’ leading goalscorer could only take part in a small session, away from the main group.”

The club also confirmed that there was no ball work involved for the 25-year-old and added: “Rashford’s fitness will be a concern heading into the Premier League clash at Newcastle United on Sunday.”
