Manchester United Closely ‘Monitoring’ Hirving Lozano Situation

Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the situation of Napoli attacker Hirving Lozano.

The Mexico international joined the Partenopei from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2019 for a fee of £40.5m and has played in 121 games for the Serie A club in all competitions since.

Lozano scored 26 goals and 14 assists for Napoli in that period, helping the club win the Coppa Italia in his first season.

However, the 27-year-old is yet to play the entire 90 minutes of a league match this season, having been overshadowed by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s instant effect.

Matteo Politano was also favoured on the right side of the attack in Napoli’s 2-1 loss against Scudetto champions AC Milan before the international break, with Lozano an unused substitute.

The former Pachuca player’s contract in Naples expires in the summer of 2024, leading to rumors that he could be sold in the coming months.

Manchester United Interested In Hirving Lozano?

As per Marca (via Corriere dello Sport), Napoli are open to bids for Lozano in January, and Manchester United are one of the clubs keeping an eye on his position.

Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, and Everton are all interested in signing the attacker.

Lozano is said to be unhappy with his playing time at Napoli this season, as he believes he has fallen behind Politano in Luciano Spalletti’s pecking order.

Bayern Munich are said to be the frontrunners to sign the Mexican, who is expected to ask at least €30m (£26.9m) to leave the Partenopei in the January transfer window.

However, it is presently unknown whether Manchester United will be active in January, as the Red Devils’ board are reportedly unwilling to blow the cash after their lucrative summer spree.

Man United spent a lot of money to add Antony from Ajax back in August, and Erik ten Hag knows Lozano from their time together in the Eredivisie.

Lozano has also gained experience playing through the middle, which would be helpful to the Red Devils given Anthony Martial’s injury problems and Cristiano Ronaldo’s lack of playing time.
