Manchester United are reportedly battling Arsenal to secure Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni this summer.
The Red Devils are planning defensive reinforcements ahead of the upcoming transfer window. Harry Maguire is expected to leave when his contract expires.
Matthijs de Ligt has struggled with injuries throughout recent months. Lisandro Martinez recently returned after recovering from a serious knee problem.

Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven remain young prospects developing gradually. United therefore view Bastoni as a long-term defensive solution.
Inter Milan, however, consider the Italian centre-back priceless currently. His contract at the Giuseppe Meazza runs until 2028.
A significant financial proposal would be required to change Inter’s stance.
Arsenal Also Monitoring Italy International Closely
Arsenal are also monitoring Bastoni ahead of a possible approach. Mikel Arteta already has Gabriel Magalhaes and Riccardo Calafiori available.
Piero Hincapie also offers depth on the left side. Despite existing options, Arsenal admire Bastoni’s composure and ball progression.
Barcelona and Real Madrid have also been credited with interest. Bastoni has enjoyed major success at Inter in Serie A, reports Football Talk.
He has won league titles and domestic cup competitions. The defender remains a regular starter for Italy internationally.
Transfermarkt currently values the 26-year-old at approximately £70 million.
A summer battle between Premier League giants appears increasingly likely.
