Manchester City are lining up a new bid for Atletico Madrid defender Jose Maria Gimenez.
Mundo Deportivo says City, despite the capture of Nathan Ake from Bournemouth, remain in the market for a new centre-half and are in contact with Atletico for Gimenez.
The Uruguay international has also been interesting Chelsea, though that has since waned after the signing of Thiago Silva from PSG.
City have made a verbal offer of €70m for Gimenez, which was immediately rejected by Atletico’s board.
For their part, Atletico are reluctant to lose the stopper after his superb form following the LaLiga restart.
