Manchester City blow as Tottenham reiterate Harry Kane is not for sale

New Tottenham director of football Fabio Paratici has vowed to keep Harry Kane at the club, despite the England captain’s request to leave this summer.

Premier League champions Manchester City have had a £100million bid rejected for Kane, 27, with Spurs keen to hang on to their homegrown star even after his bombshell announcement in May.

And Paratici, who joined Tottenham last month after 11 years at Juventus, told Sky Italy: ‘We want to keep Harry Kane at Tottenham.

‘I’ve seen a lot of strikers — Cristiano Ronaldo, Alvaro Morata, Gonzalo Higuain, Carlos Tevez — Kane is one of the best strikers in the world.

‘He shoots with both feet, makes many assists in addition to goals. He’s a team player and finisher, among the top three (strikers) in the world. I can’t wait to see him playing with Spurs.’

Chairman Daniel Levy stated last month that ‘what other clubs want is not always possible to achieve’ when speaking to Tottenham’s official website on the topic of players who might be the subject of bids in the transfer market – but said that he understood Kane’s frustration about the lack of silverware won by the club, which is the driving force behind the player’s desire to leave.

One of Nuno Espirito Santo’s biggest tasks will be refocusing Kane’s mind on playing for Spurs

The notoriously tough negotiator is thought to want a whopping £150m for his star asset, who was the Premier League Golden Boot winner last season despite Spurs only finishing seventh and therefore qualifying for the Europa Conference League.

Tottenham have announced four friendlies against Leyton Orient, Milton Keynes Dons, Chelsea and Arsenal before they get their Premier League campaign up and running at home to Manchester City on Sunday, August 15.
