Man Utd Star Harry Maguire Opens Up On Bomb Threat, Says Football Fans Went Way Too Far

Harry Maguire has spoken out about the bomb threat he got earlier this year, telling irate Manchester United supporters who have booed and jeered him that “there’s a line.”

Maguire has had a difficult three years for club and country since joining Manchester United from Leicester for a world-record cost of £80 million ($101 million).

The defender has become something of a target for the Red Devils’ inadequacies, after being handed the captain’s armband six months after arriving at Old Trafford, and some have gone too far with their protestations.

What Has Maguire Said About The Bomb Threat?

The Manchester United star and his family were forced to abandon their house in April after receiving an email threat. The property was searched by Cheshire police, but no device was discovered.

“Obviously I’m going to be criticised” Maguire stated. Manchester United paid a large sum of money for me; it is both one of the most loved and despised clubs in the world.

“We’re well aware that we’re being scrutinized the most. When we concede goals or make mistakes, I am completely open to criticism. I’m large enough to take it when people pat me on the back and tell me I can do better.

“But there is a line where we are human beings.” I do have a family of my own.

My attitude is that it doesn’t bother me too much, but when it comes to bomb threats, it’s all about the family.

“I’m simply glad my children aren’t old enough to read or watch the news.” If my children were older, they would be able to see things, go to school, and hear about it. That’s when it has a bigger effect on you.”

Maguire has joined England’s team for four Uefa Nations League matches, the first of which takes place on Saturday in Hungary.

The 29-year-old defender endured a disappointing season at United, who finished sixth in the Premier League.

“Yes, it’s been a difficult season, there’s no denying it,” he said.
