Man Utd Focus On Casemiro Transfer Push As Rabiot Deal Collapses Amid Wage Dispute

Manchester United have turned their focus to another midfielder, Casemiro, as a ‘alternative’ to Adrien Rabiot.

United had negotiated a £15 million deal to sign the Juventus midfielder, but it is on the verge of collapse due to personal clauses. Rabiot is represented by his mother, Veronique, and she is reportedly not just not interested in Manchester as a destination, but she is also driving a hard bargain over a potential offer for her son.

United’s top target this summer has been Frenkie de Jong, but as the transfer season closes, the club is exploring for alternatives.

Manchester United’s Pursuit Of Casemiro

As per Marca, Real Madrid regular Casemiro is the latest option to be added to Manchester United’s midfield shortlist as a ’emergency solution.’

The 30-year-old has been a regular in the Blancos midfield for several years after joining from Sao Paulo in 2013, and he was loaned to Porto for the 2014-15 season.

Casemiro has subsequently scored 31 goals and assisted 29 times in 336 appearances for the capital club, including one goal and four assists in 48 games last season.

He has three years left on his contract at the Bernabeu, where he has won five Champions League titles, three La Liga titles, three Club World Cups, one Copa del Rey, three UEFA Super Cups, and three Supercopa de Espana.

A secondary report from journalist Lucas Navarrete, meanwhile, has dashed expectations of a Casemiro deal, claiming that Real Madrid has no intention of parting ways with the ex-Sao Paulo youngster.

Man United would allegedly need to submit a deal that Real Madrid would find “difficult to reject,” and as of now, the Red Devils are yet to make a formal approach to Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Casemiro started the UEFA Super Cup win against Eintracht Frankfurt earlier this month, but he was only on the bench for the weekend’s 2-1 La Liga win over Almeria.

Man United Looking To Sign Caicedo As An Alternative?

Manchester United are also considering a move for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, who was on their radar before joining Brighton.

Ten Hag is said to have been so impressed by the Ecuadorean after United’s 2-1 loss to Brighton in their first game of the season that he wants to see if a deal can be done.
