Man United Star Set To Resume Training Amid Assault Allegations

Manchester United winger, Antony has reportedly been permitted by the club to resume training and available for match selection despite allegations of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin.

The Brazilian star was put on paid leave by United earlier this month. So that he could concentrate on clearing his name after disputing claims that he had assaulted three women.

After confirming with Sao Paulo police that he was able to depart Brazil, Antony left for the UK on Tuesday night. On Thursday, he willingly met with Greater Manchester Police.

The Mail claimed that Antony was neither held nor locked up after the interview and was given free rein to return home.

The 23-year-old has been given the all-clear by United to resume his first-team responsibilities. This is because they believe Antony has presented sufficient proof to back up his vehement denials of the accusations leveled against him.

What Did Man United Say About Antony’s Return?

The club announced the decision on their official website on Friday: “Since allegations were first made in June, Antony has co-operated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the UK, and he continues to do so.

“As Antony’s employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington, and be available for selection, while police inquiries proceed.

“This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case.”As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse.

“We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.”
