Manchester United have reportedly opened talks to sign OGC Nice defender, Melvin Bard to solve a major problem position.
Luke Shaw has missed a significant portion of the season due to injury. And Tyrell Malacia has missed the entire campaign.
Because of this, the club feel that they need to add another left-back for the upcoming campaign, and INEOS has made this position a top priority.
Bard, 23, moved from Lyon to Nice in 2021. And his football ability so far has given him a chance to be included in France’s squad for the European Championships.
Bard is primarily a left-back, but he can also play at left midfield. In 23 games this season, he has two assists.
The Frenchman only has two years left on his contract. Therefore, according to The Metro, Nice, owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the minority owner of United, are eager to cash in on him this summer.
United are likely to miss out on Champions League qualification. This will probably make the club go over their Financial Fair Play allotment.
The Manchester club are hoping to work out a price with Newcastle to get Dan Ashworth off his gardening leave and back in the director role.
After serving his gardening leave at Southampton, Jason Wilcox will report into Ashworth position.

However, United hope to work out a compensation plan with the Saints so that Wilcox can take over as technical director at Old Trafford.
This summer, the Red Devils are also interested in a central defender, a striker, and a central midfielder.
