Man United, Man City Set To Battle For Young Prodigy

Premier League giants, Manchester City and Manchester United are reportedly set to go toe-to-toe in the signing of Sunderland youth prospect, Matthew Young who has drawn comparison with Jordan Pickford.

Pickford has gained Southgate’s confidence and has seldom failed to play well for the Three Lions. Though, he has had some turbulent performances for his club side, Everton. But he is revered to be one of the best goalies in the English top division.

Young has been tipped to follow in the footsteps of the former Black Cats shot-stopper.

The 29-year-old, who joined Everton from Sunderland in 2017, has been an excellent addition and has managed to maintain the club status in the top-flight.

TeamTalk now claims that United and City are watching what might be a replay of Pickford’s move to Goodison Park.

Both Manchester sides are reportedly “monitoring” the highly-regarded Sunderland prospect, according to the sports daily.

This season, the 16-year-old has excelled for Sunderland in the Premier League 2, which includes players as old as 21.

The report further stated that Young is reportedly pounding away at the door of being called up to the England youth team. And he is already being compared to former Black Cats goalkeeper Pickford.

“A confident, agile goalkeeper who is good with his feet”. As a result, the likeness with Pickford is not merely comparable because of their association with Sunderland.
