Manchester United are reportedly plotting a free transfer move for Angus Gunn ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The Sun claims that the 30-year-old has become a potential target for United after being let go by Nottingham Forest.

Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir both have questionable futures at Old Trafford, so, United are searching for an experienced goalkeeper this summer.

From a squad-building perspective, the situation makes sense.

Carrick still needs dependable depth, especially with Champions League football returning, even though Senne Lammens has established himself as United’s first-choice goalkeeper.

United might improve their position without making significant financial investments by signing an experienced free agent.

The Scotland international attended Manchester City’s academy while Wilcox was a member of the coaching staff and eventually the academy’s head.

Although there are no guarantees in that partnership, United might learn more about the player’s personality, growth, and suitability.

Gunn may not be a flashy acquisition, but he is available, experienced, and knowledgeable about English football.

Additionally, he has participated in the World Cup with Scotland, starting their opening games against Morocco and Haiti.

Despite a quiet club season at Forest, his exposure has kept him in the public eye.

United Also Monitoring Darlow

Karl Darlow, whose contract with Leeds United expires next week, is also being pursued by United.

The 35-year-old, who played 22 games the previous season, is presently negotiating a potential contract extension.

This implies that United is searching for an experienced team goalkeeper who can compete, cover, and take on a supporting role rather than a new No. 1.

One of the less expensive names being considered seems to be Gunn. Instead of pursuing an expensive headline option, United might act swiftly to find a suitable successor if Onana and Bayindir both depart.
