Man City Interested In Signing Chelsea Forward Kai Havertz

Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea star Kai Havertz.

The 23-year-old has created a lot of noteworthy moments over his two and a half  at Stamford Bridge, most notably scoring the winning goal in the Champions League final in 2020–21 against the Citizens.

However, maintaining consistency in front of goal has been difficult for the Germany international, who has 25 goals and 14 assists in 105 games across all competitions.

Havertz has started 11 of his 14 games this season, however he has only scored twice, both in Premier League home triumphs against West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Havertz was an unused replacement in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Saturday, following dismal performances against Aston Villa and Brentford.

However, as per writer Simon Phillips, the former Bayer Leverkusen player has piqued the curiosity of reigning Premier League winners Manchester City.

It is improbable that Chelsea would accept selling Havertz, who is under contract in West London until June 2025, to a Premier League rival.

However, with the Blues said to be looking for a new centre-forward next summer, Havertz’s playing time at Stamford Bridge could be limited.

In recent weeks, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, and Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo have all been linked with a transfer to Chelsea, while Inter Milan loanee Romelu Lukaku’s future remains unknown.

Havertz is already dealing with Graham Potter’s rotation, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Raheem Sterling, and Armando Broja all vying for a spot in the attack.

Should Havertz seek fresh pastures in order to earn regular first-team play, a move to Manchester City may not result in increased minutes, as Pep Guardiola already has a plethora of attacking options at his disposal.
