Man City ‘Are Set To Offer Haaland An Extension’ on His £865,000-A-WEEK Deal

Manchester City are reportedly preparing to offer Erling Haaland a contract extension worth £865,000 per week, less than a year after he came from Borussia Dortmund.

Since joining Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund for £52 million last summer, the Norwegian has been in blazing form.

Haaland cost City just £51 million after his release clause was activated last summer, and his debut year in England has been a huge success, with the Norwegian forward scoring 47 goals in all competitions.

Haaland’s contract at the Etihad Stadium included a £175 million release clause that could be exercised in 2024, but only by teams outside of the Premier League.

That condition has now been lifted, according to The Athletic, and the club is ready to offer their star striker a new contract.

The condition was tied to Pep Guardiola’s future at the club and was removed when the Spanish coach signed a new contract extension in November to keep him at the Premier League champions until the summer of 2025

While City are working on a new contract for the 22-year-old, the details remain unknown, and it is unclear whether Haaland’s new contract would include another release clause.

what Will Real Madrid Do?

Real Madrid are still interested in signing the Norwegian as a long-term successor for skipper Karim Benzema.

Last year, Sportsmail exclusively discovered that Haaland makes a remarkable £865,000 each week thanks to a succession of hefty, almost-guaranteed incentives, despite his base income being in line with the rest of City’s top earners.

This enables him to earn roughly £45 million per year while playing for the Premier League club.

After a fantastic start to life in England, Haaland potentially committing his long-term future to City will be music to their fans’ ears.

This season, he has scored 32 goals in just 28 league games, placing him nine goals ahead of his nearest competitor Harry Kane in the battle for the Golden Boot.
