Man City Accept Undisclosed Fee From Saudi Arabian Club For Defender

Saudi Pro League club, Al-Nassr have reportedly made an undisclosed offer to Manchester City for defender Aymeric Laporte.

Given Nathan Ake’s exceptional play from the previous season, the 29-year-old defender found it difficult to get playing time.

He has since fallen further down the pecking order in Pep Guardiola’s squad with the addition of Croatian international Josko Gvardiol.

The Spanish international is presently in Athens for Wednesday’s Super Cup final against Sevilla.

But the Independent has learned that Al-Nassr has made plans for him to join players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, and Alex Telles.

Laporte joined City from Athletic Bilbao in January 2018 and quickly established himself as a crucial player for the team.

He participated in all five of Pep Guardiola’s Premier League title winning seasons. Winning the FA Cup twice, the Carabao Cup three times, and the Champions League trophy this past season.

In City’s first Premier League game of the season, a 3-0 victory at Burnley on Friday night, Laporte came on as a late substitute, and Gvardiol also made his league debut off the bench.
