Madrid’s Casemiro names Busquets in his four best midfielders in the world

Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro has revealed his list of the best four players in the world at the moment who play in the same position as him.

The 24-year-old has grown into an indispensable player at the Santiago Bernabeu and his recent leg break has hampered Real Madrid’s progress, with Zinedine Zidane’s side drawing their last four matches in succession.

During his time in Spain, Casemiro has come up against some of La Liga’s finest players – as well as playing alongside them – and none more so than the crop at Barcelona.

Adopting a similar role to that of Sergio Busquets, Casemiro has revealed just how impressed he has been with the 28-year-old – as well as the likes of Gabi and Busquets’ former teammate, Thiago Alcantara.

“The best players in my position are [Sergio] Busquets, Thiago [Alcantara], Gabi, Xabi Alonso,” Casemiro told Onda Cero.

“Busquets is a great player, how he plays the ball, his positioning, his balance on the pitch.”

Casemiro may not have been allowed to name any of his teammates, with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric two names who clearly stand out from the Brazilian international’s list.

The defensive midfielder is in his second full season as a regular in the Los Blancos first-team having joined the club in 2013 from Porto, before being loaned back to the Portuguese club in 2014 for the campaign.
