Lukaku replies to jibe saying he was pocketed by Chiellini at Euro 2020

Romelu Lukaku replied to a comment asking if he’d ‘left Giorgio Chiellini’s pocket’ by congratulating Italy on their UEFA EURO 2020 victory – but reminding everyone Inter won the Scudetto.

The Belgium international converted a penalty in the quarter-final, but was otherwise kept remarkably quiet by the Azzurri defence, including Juventus stars Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci.

Someone wrote to him on Twitter, noting he had ‘finally left Chiellini’s pocket, then…’

Lukaku responded and then deleted the comment, but not before it was screen-shotted and went viral.

“Italy won and I am happy for you, truly… but we are the Champions of Italy. Inter, remember that.”

Lukaku scored 24 Serie A goals in 36 games, along with providing 10 assists, on the Nerazzurri’s way to their first Scudetto since the Treble in 2010.

The 28-year-old is also the most prolific player in the history of the Belgium national team, finding the net 64 times in just 98 senior caps for the Red Devils.

He got four goals in EURO 2020, but the nation ranked top of the FIFA rankings crashed out in the quarter-finals with a 2-1 defeat to Italy.

Lorenzo Insigne and Lukaku’s Inter teammate Nicolò Barella got the decisive goals, before a Lukaku penalty.
