Luiz: Passionate work is the secret to Conte’s success at Chelsea

David Luiz insists that Antonio Conte’s work-rate has been the key to Chelsea’s title-winning performances this season.

Chelsea clinched Premier League glory on Friday evening with a 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion, as Conte cemented his status as the division’s top managerial appointment of last summer.

Though somewhat overshadowed by the arrivals of Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho, the Italian coach has transformed the Blues’ displays superbly via his switch to a 3-4-3 formation.

As reported by Chelsea’s official website, Luiz said: “He likes to work, that is his secret. He loves to work, he works with passion every day.

“I’m so happy for him because it’s never easy to come here in your first season and grab the title, but he deserves it.

“We work for [the fans]. They are behind us every day, every single match, at Stamford Bridge, away from Stamford Bridge, outside London.”

Goals scored – With two games remaining, the Blues have already netted 17 more Premier League goals than last season.

Goals conceded – Boasting the second-best defensive record in the division, Thibaut Courtois and Asmir Begovic have been beaten only 29 times, after shipping 53 in the previous campaign.

Pass and shot accuracy – Both of these figures have seen a small increase of 1%, though have this season stuck far closer to the mean in comparison to the erratic displays of 2015/16.

Win ratio – An incredible figure of 77.8% this term dwarfs the 31.6% under Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink.
