Liverpool Suffer Transfer Blow As Agent Advise Player Against Move

Liverpool have reportedly been dealt a major blow in their pursuit of making a move for Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu.

Despite Liverpool’s interest in signing him, the agent of Dorgu has encouraged his client not to join them this summer.

The Reds intend to add younger players this summer in an effort to lower the average age of their squad. But some players seem hesitant to make the switch without seeing a clear career path.

Last season, Jurgen Klopp made it clear that he planned to spend big money in the upcoming months to resuscitate his squad. An overhaul is undoubtedly planned in Merseyside after Liverpool’s ageing squad and injury problems cost them the previous season.

The rumor that Liverpool were interested in Lecce’s Dorgu has been confirmed by his agent Kingsley Ogbodo. He also disclosed that he is advising his client against making such a move.

He told Bold as reported by the Express: “Liverpool want him. Liverpool have been watching him and interested in him for some time, but if he goes there he’ll have to play in the U23 team.

“It’s not the best for him, so I advise him not to do it. They can offer him a lot of money, but that’s not what we’re looking for right now. We focus on his career, development and playing time.”

Dorgu, who previously played for Danish outfit Nordsjaelland, joined Lecce on loan with a buy-back clause. And has excelled for the young team.

Next month, the agreement will become permanent. Giving the Serie A club the possibility to recoup their £171k investment with a sizeable return within a year.
