Liverpool Star Sends Message To Fans Following Hamstring Injury

Liverpool midfielder, Dominik Szoboszlai has reassured supporters that it “won’t take long” for him to recover from a hamstring injury. He has been ruled out of this week’s Carabao Cup semifinal first leg.

Szoboszlai was forced off of the game just over an hour into Liverpool’s 4-2 Premier League victory over Newcastle United in 2024 – the team’s first game of the new year.

The Hungary international will not be present when Fulham visit Anfield on Wednesday night for the League Cup clash. And he was not present during the FA Cup third round victory over Arsenal on Sunday.

However, according to 90min, he seems to be optimistic that his recuperation will be relatively quick overall.

“I’m getting better,” Szoboszlai told M4 Sport at an awards event in his homeland on Monday night. “The first game of the year didn’t go as planned [for me], but it won’t take long and I’ll be back.”

Liverpool’s winter break in English football begins after Wednesday night. This will give the Reds ten days off before their Premier League contest with Bournemouth on January 21.

Since joining Liverpool for £60 million from RB Leipzig, Szoboszlai has had a big impact on the team. He was a part of a much-needed midfield rebuild at Anfield during the summer, when James Milner, Fabinho, Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were all sold or released.

Wataru Endo, Ryan Gravenberch, and Alexis Mac Allister—whose move from Brighton could potentially be worth up to £55 million—joined the 23-year-old.

Liverpool didn’t make any other additions in the squad. But after 20 games, they lead the Premier League table, so the deals appear to be working.
