Liverpool Showing ‘Concrete’ Interest In PSV Star Expected To Leave

Liverpool are reportedly among several clubs interested in PSV Eindhoven winger, Johan Bakayoko.

The 20-year-old, who plays mainly on the right wing scored six goals and provided 13 assists in 33 games this season. This has attracted interest from elite European teams, including the Reds.

According to Voetbalkrant as reported by Sport Witness, Liverpool have expressed “concrete interest” in the 20-year-old.

In addition to Jürgen Klopp’s team, the Belgium international is said to be attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

His contract expires in 2026, and the Eredivisie outfit have been able to keep him for the last two transfer windows. That might not be the case in the summer, according to the report.

Following his admission that this is the attacker’s last season at PSV, Earnest Stewart, the technical director of the Dutch club, gave encouragement to Liverpool and other interested parties.

In response to the question of whether the player will remain with the team for the upcoming season, Stewart, who was a guest on NOS’ Studio Voetbal, said: “No, I don’t think so.”

“What Johan is doing at his age is fantastic. He has played 30 top matches before the winter break, including international matches with Belgium.”

Stewart’s remarks are repeated by Voetbalkrant, who also notes that although Bakayoko is currently valued at €40 million, the signing fee will be “much higher” than that.
