Lionel Messi’s World Cup Hotel Room To Become ‘Small Museum’

Qatar University have announced that the hotel room Lionel Messi stayed in during the Qatar World Cup will be turned into a mini museum.

Messi was pivotal in Argentina’s first World Cup victory in 36 years, and he was named player of the tournament after scoring twice in the final.

The 35-year-old won the silver boot after scoring seven goals on his way to the one trophy that had eluded him throughout his otherwise illustrious career.

His accomplishments are now set to be immortalised, with Achraf Ben Ayad posting on twitter that the University of Qatar space he stayed in will be turned into a ‘mini museum’.

It should allow fans to see how Messi, widely regarded as the greatest footballer of all time, spent his time between games during a dramatic campaign.

Argentina began the tournament with a disastrous 2-1 loss to Saudi Arabia, but eventually advanced out of their group after victories over Mexico and Poland.

Lionel Scaloni’s team did not make things easy for themselves in the knockout stages, either, as they surrendered 2-0 leads in both the quarter final and final, forcing them to win on penalties in both games.

The final was one of the best in World Cup history, with France regaining control late in the game thanks to two Kylian Mbappe goals, before the striker added another in extra time to complete his hat trick.

Argentina eventually won on penalties, and Messi lifted the trophy at the Lusail Stadium.

It was a narrow victory, and Mbappe’s hotel room could easily have been turned into a museum.
