According to rumors, Leicester City have lined up Manchester United winger Amad as a possible replacement for Harvey Barnes.

The Foxes attacker has been linked with moves to Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and West Ham United, with Enzo Maresca interested in bringing Amad to the King Power Stadium on loan when Barnes leaves. According to the Daily Mail, Leicester will face competition from Burnley and Sheffield United for the Ivorian’s signature after he impressed in the Championship with Sunderland last season. Erik ten Hag needs ‘more time’ to decide whether Amad should be loaned out again, and he is anticipated to be part of the Red Devils’ team that flies to the United States on tour later this week.

Amad started and played well in Ten Hag’s side’s 2-0 win against Leeds in last week’s first pre-season friendly of the summer, and the forward is set to play again when United face Lyon in Edinburgh on Wednesday. The squad will next fly to the United States, where they will face Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund before the end of the month.

Meanwhile, at United, Amad faces heavy competition for wide positions, with Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Marcus Rashford ahead of him in the pecking order. Facundo Pellistri, Anthony Elanga, Shola Shoretire, and Noam Emeran are all young prospects for Ten Hag to consider if necessary, which has fueled optimism among fans.

The 21-year-old’s transfer to United was confirmed in 2020 but the highly rated talent has only featured nine times for the Red Devils since. He spent the second half of 2021/22 on loan at Rangers but made a much bigger impact at the Stadium of Light last term, netting 14 in 42 as the Black Cats finished in the play-off places.
