Kylian Mbappé Denies Real Madrid Misdiagnosis Amid Knee Injury Controversy

Kylian Mbappé has refuted reports claiming Real Madrid misdiagnosed his knee injury by treating the wrong leg initially.

Rumors circulated earlier this week suggesting a comical error by the club’s medical staff, but Mbappé publicly dismissed them as “not true,” insisting communication gaps may have fueled misunderstanding.

The 24-year-old explained that while he bears “indirect responsibility” for leaving details unclear, the club maintained clear communication throughout his rehabilitation, both in Madrid and during Paris-based treatments with his own medical team.

Frustration Sparked by Delayed Diagnosis

Despite Mbappé’s defense, L’Équipe reported it took nearly three months for an official diagnosis, only confirmed after he consulted French expert Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet.

Sources claim he bypassed Madrid staff entirely, highlighting longstanding concerns over the club’s medical reliability.

Mbappé admitted the period caused him “frustration, anger, and worry” due to uncertainty over his condition, revealing he was not at his happiest during recovery.

His statements, while supportive of Madrid publicly, were interpreted by some as subtle criticism of the medical department, reports SI.

The French forward reportedly reached out to club president Florentino Pérez to refuse further treatment from the staff.

Instead, he will work with Christophe Baudot, formerly of Paris Saint-Germain and now Morocco’s national team medical chief, to ensure proper care.

With the season at a crucial stage, Mbappé stressed the importance of the team’s performance over individual issues, insisting Real Madrid has continued performing well in his absence.
