Klopp Unhappy With Defensive Inconsistencies By Liverpool Defenders

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has made a claim about Leeds United’s winning goal at Anfield straight after their Champions League clash last night.

Klopp’s team overcame Napoli 2-0 last night, putting their 2-1 loss on Saturday night behind them.

Liverpool earned revenge over Luciano Spalletti’s team after they were destroyed 4-1 in Naples back in September thanks to late goals from Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez.

However, Klopp is clearly still frustrated about his side conceding a late goal against Leeds on Saturday night.

Crysencio Summerville’s 89th winner handed Leeds a massive three points but the Reds boss is still disappointed by the manner in which they conceded the goal.

The Leeds winger managed to create a yard of space inside the Liverpool penalty area, despite having two defenders around him.

What Did Klopp Say?

Now, Klopp has told Liverpool’s official website that he is still massively disappointed by the defending from his side for the goal.

“We don’t doubt the quality, I don’t think anybody doubts the quality,” Klopp said after last night’s win.

“But that’s part of the problem as well – we don’t show consistency. That’s why I mentioned the second goal against Leeds as an example for our situation.

“It’s a situation where you have to defend with all you have but we are chasing the game, even when it’s around our 18-yard box.

“And you can see nobody wants to have a throw-in for Leeds and they can let time run down, and nobody protects the box pretty much because everybody thinks, ‘We have three players out there, we will win the ball.’

“That’s a little bit the situation we are in, that’s why we have to make a proper step back and tonight we did that.”
