Kante names three Chelsea stars who deserve Player of the Year award over him

N’Golo Kante believes Chelsea team-mates Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and David Luiz deserve to win the PFA Player of the Year award over him.

France international Kante has been a revelation in the Premier League since joining Leicester City from Caen in 2015.

The 25-year-old enforcer helped Claudio Ranieri defy the odds to bag a remarkable title last season and appears on the verge of another winners’ medal this term.

Since signing for Chelsea for £32million last summer, Kante has become an integral member of Antonio Conte’s squad and is being tipped to win the Player of the Year award after missing out on the gong to former team-mate Riyad Mahrez last year.

But Kante told Canal+: ‘There are quite a few players in the Premier League who deserve this award.

‘There is [Eden] Hazard, Diego Costa and David Luiz in my team.’

Brazilian defender Luiz has flourished this season after returning to Stamford Bridge following a spell at Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain.

Hazard has been equally as impressive for the west London side, scoring 11 goals in 31 appearances, while Costa is the club’s leading goalscorer with 17 to his name.
