Juventus, Napoli And Tottenham Eye Bologna Defender

Bologna defender, Riccardo Calafiori is reportedly subject to transfer interest from several clubs in Europe ahead of the summer transfer window.

Napoli and Juventus have been keeping a close eye on him throughout the season. According to Corriere di Bologna as reported by Cult Of Calcio, some Tottenham scouts went to watch Bologna’s most recent games, collecting positive reports.

Following a campaign with Basel, the Roma academy product made his way back to Serie A last summer. Prior to playing under Thiago Motta, he was a winger. But as a center-back, he has excelled greatly. He has made 22 appearances, providing one assist.

His value has increased dramatically, and Bologna only paid €4M to sign him. The bid in the rumbling bidding war might require more than €30M.

The 21-year-old struggled to make a positive impression at Roma and didn’t perform well while on loan at Genoa prior to Basel paying €2.6 million for his services in 2022.

For the first time in his Super League career, he was a regular. He has five Italy U-21 caps. Luciano Spalletti made strong indications that he would soon get his senior Azzurri call up.

Although Motta is not new to developing his players’ talents and reshaping them for new roles.

The 21-year-old’s rise to prominence has been extraordinarily swift. Serie A defenders are frequently plucked by foreign clubs. And that could happen once more if his price tag reaches a certain threshold.

He would perform even better in a three-man defense because he is a respectable presence in the final third as well.
