Julian Alvarez has reportedly made it clear that his preferred destination remains Barcelona, despite recent speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal this summer.
Reports in Spain claim Arsenal are exploring a deal for the Atletico Madrid forward, with suggestions that a proposed arrangement could involve Viktor Gyokeres moving in the opposite direction.
However, Alvarez is said to be prioritising a transfer to the Catalan giants, reports Football 365.
The former Manchester City striker has attracted significant interest following another impressive season for Atletico.
Real Madrid were previously linked with a blockbuster move, while several Premier League clubs have also monitored his situation.
Barcelona Remain His Preferred Destination
According to reports, Alvarez has shown little interest in joining Arsenal or Paris Saint-Germain, instead continuing to hold out hope for a move to Barcelona.
Barcelona remain admirers of the Argentina international, although their chances of securing a deal could depend on Atletico Madrid’s willingness to negotiate.

The Spanish champions previously saw a major offer rejected and are reportedly reluctant to submit an improved bid at this stage.
Atletico have consistently maintained that Alvarez is not for sale, despite growing transfer speculation surrounding the striker.
Arsenal Continue Striker Search
Arsenal remain active in the market as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season. Alvarez has been linked with the Gunners for several months, while Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres is also among the names regularly associated with the club.
Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour recently described Alvarez as an ideal signing, praising his work rate, pace and proven quality at the highest level.
For now, however, Alvarez’s stance appears unchanged, with Barcelona remaining his preferred option as uncertainty over his future continues.
