Rather than attending a welcoming ceremony or speaking to the media, Mourinho plans to head directly to training.
His focus is already on evaluating the squad and laying foundations for the upcoming campaign in Spain.
Mourinho Begins Planning Behind The Scenes
Reports indicate Mourinho travelled from Lisbon to Madrid to complete formalities surrounding his highly anticipated return.
The 63-year-old is expected to bring five members of his coaching staff to the Santiago Bernabeu.
His arrival follows Real Madrid’s confirmation that Alvaro Arbeloa has left his position as head coach.
Arbeloa managed 28 matches after replacing Xabi Alonso, recording eighteen victories and only two defeats.
Despite that record, Madrid finished behind Barcelona in La Liga and exited major cup competitions early, reports Goal.
Meanwhile, Benfica have moved quickly to appoint Marco Silva after Mourinho’s departure from the Portuguese club.
Club president Florentino Perez confirmed Mourinho’s return shortly after securing victory in the recent presidential election.
Perez praised Mourinho’s achievements and described him as one of football’s best coaches and a true Madridista.
For the remainder of June, Mourinho will assess his squad, collaborate with staff and shape transfer plans.
His official presentation is expected next month before attention turns fully towards pre-season preparations and objectives.
