Manchester City will have to work to do to lessen the effects of Pep Guardiola’s exit.
Following the departure of the legendary Catalan manager, it has been speculated that several key players will think about their future, and Europe’s leading clubs have already started to sniff around some of their stars.
Josko Gvardiol is an example of that. With only two years remaining on his contract, the Croatian star was scheduled to discuss a renewal this summer.
Gvardiol’s value will drop next summer, so City will have to think about cashing in on him if they are unable to reach an agreement with the 24-year-old.
Madrid Looking To Rebuild Under Mourinho
Real Madrid, who are willing to rebuild this summer, are one of the clubs that have been regularly linked to Gvardiol. It appears that they now have a chance to try to sign him.
Gvardiol has chosen to halt his contract negotiations with City, according to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports DE.
According to Plettenberg, Gvardiol will only take into consideration a transfer to Real Madrid or a new contract with City, and Bayern Munich are not in the running for him.

Los Blancos are quite interested in him, but the Premier League giants have already made an offer.
According to AS, Mourinho views him as a crucial component of his project, and the Spanish giants have started working on the agreement in an effort to meet one of Mourinho’s demands.
In the event that they are unable to reach an agreement for Gvardiol, Real Madrid have also proposed Riccardo Calafiori of Arsenal.
Mourinho is eager to sign a left-back who can play both central defence and back three if necessary.
