Jose Mourinho ‘Learning German’ As He Prepares To Take Over As Next Bayern Munich Manager

According to Bild, Jose Mourinho is allegedly coveting the Bayern Munich position and has even begun studying German.

The former Chelsea manager, who was fired by AS Roma last month, is reportedly eager to take Thomas Tuchel’s place should he be let go after a humiliating 3-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen. With Die Roten already five points down in the title race and Xabi Alonso’s team not showing any signs of slowing down, there’s a good probability Tuchel will pay a heavy price in the workplace.

Bayern won’t be short of candidates if they do decide to make a change, and Mourinho, 61, wants to ensure he’ll be at the front of the queue should the axe swing, as per the Mirror. Mourinho has worked in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain, but has never managed in Germany.

It comes amid rumours of a ‘verbal agreement’ with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Shabab, though Mourinho told Spanish outlet Marca there was no truth to the reports.

Previously, he’d hinted he might like to coach in Saudi Arabia one day, declaring on Egyptian TV: “I will go to Saudi Arabia in some free time, but I am convinced that I will work there. I don’t know when, but I am pretty sure of it. No one knows the future, but I will definitely do this [working in Saudi Arabia].”

During his two-and-a-half year stint at Roma, Mourinho won the Conference League and led the team to the final of the Europa League, where they lost to Sevilla on penalties. He was sacked following a 3-1 defeat to Milan last month which left Roma ninth in the Serie A table.
