After a challenging campaign fraught with pressure and criticism, Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa preferred to focus on the positives following his team’s hard-fought 1-0 triumph over Sevilla on Sunday evening.
Vinicius Jr. scored the game-winning goal away from home, giving Madrid a much-needed triumph after weeks of unhappiness around the club.
Speaking after the match, Arbeloa conceded that the season has fallen short of the expectations established at the start of the year.

Praise for Vini and Mbappe.
However, he defended his squad’s devotion, particularly the offensive studs Vinicius and Kylian Mbappe.
When asked which of the two forwards had impressed him the most this season, the Madrid coach stated that he is delighted with both players, despite the club’s general troubles, Reported By AS News.
“I am really delighted with everyone. We are well aware that we have not fulfilled the goals we set for ourselves and that we always strive to improve.
“I’ve been here four months, and I believe both of them have tried their best.
“They are unquestionably two of the world’s top five game changers. Real Madrid are fortunate to have both of them.
“Today was Vini’s moment to score a goal, but Kylian performed an excellent job, and it’s a bad he didn’t score as well. Let’s see if he does better next weekend.”
Injury worries before the season finale
Despite the happy outcome, Real Madrid’s night did not go entirely as planned.
Arbeloa also stated that numerous first-team players are now experiencing physical difficulty ahead of the last La Liga game versus Athletic Club.
The management disclosed that Vinicius, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Dean Huijsen all sustained injuries during the game.
“Yes… Vini has come down with a niggle. Aurelien Tchouameni wasn’t feeling 100% today, either. Dean Huijsen has taken a knock.
“Well, we’ll see how the week goes and if we can get them fit for the weekend.”
However, the Madrid manager promptly assuaged anxieties by stating that the injuries do not look serious at this time.
“Ah, no. I think it’s just an inconvenience. And there’s nothing too severe.”
Looking ahead to the season’s last La Liga match against Athletic Club, Arbeloa stated, “It will be a day of farewells for some players, and we must try to put on a good performance in front of our fans.”
“We’re going to defend this shirt right up to the last second, and so will I.”
