Inter Milan are reportedly eager to sign Romelu Lukaku on a permanent deal, starting with a second successive loan deal in 2023-24.
Inter earned £97.5m for selling Lukaku to Chelsea in August 2021, only for the forward to have a less-than-satisfactory first year at Stamford Bridge.
Despite the fact that the Belgium international scored 15 goals in 44 appearances, a contentious interview and an inability to adapt to Thomas Tuchel’s style of play led to the Blues being happy to assist a loan return to San Siro.
However, things have not gone well back in Italy, with the 29-year-old missing much of the season owing to injury.
As a result, Lukaku missed Belgium’s opening game at the present World Cup, and it is unclear whether he will return before the knockout rounds.
With only 251 minutes under his belt for Inter this season, the Serie A giants will be hoping for a greater return on their loan fee when domestic action returns at the turn of the year.
However, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the Inter management has already decided to push through a second temporary deal in the summer.

According to Sky Sports Italy, the Serie A giants would love to extend Lukaku’s contract beyond this season.
The report comes in the same week that it was stated that Chelsea co-owner and chairman Todd Boehly would like to sell Lukaku at the conclusion of the season.
Chelsea are understood to have adjusted their books and do not see the sense in allowing Lukaku to stay at Inter for a fee in the area of £6.7m, even if they would continue to save on wages.
