Guardiola Expects Haaland To Shake Off Injury And Feature Against Liverpool

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola reveals he expects his star striker, Erling Haaland to play against Liverpool on Saturday. Though, he admitted it is not certain he would feature in the huge clash.

Before the international break, the 22-year-old had been in excellent form for City. Scoring a whopping nine goals in his previous three games in all competitions.

However, due to a groin issue, Haaland had to be taken out of the most recent Norway squad. And he missed their European qualifying matches against Spain and Georgia.

Guardiola acknowledged that the forward faced a crucial final training session on Friday. Despite a time of rest that necessitated a trip to the hospital for the aforementioned injury.

In the pre-match conference against Liverpool, the gaffer said he spoke with the towering striker and he felt good with his current situation.

“Erling [Haaland] is recovering,” the City boss told reporters, as claimed by Goal.

“This afternoon we have the last training session and we are going to see how he feels. We’ll see today. At the end, the doctors and the player will decide how he feels, I spoke with him, he feels good. We will see. Life is risk in these stages, we have to take it.”

The Norwegian’s absence would be devastating for Guardiola as they get set for what could be a season-defining matchup in Saturday’s early kickoff.

Given the staggering 42 goals he has already scored this year. Anything less than three points would move the title closer to north London. Where they are currently eight points behind leaders Arsenal despite having played one fewer game. Therefore, Haaland’s inclusion could be vital.
