Giroud must free himself from Chelsea after reaching agreement with AC Milan

AC Milan have reportedly reached an agreement with Olivier Giroud, but the France international must free himself from Chelsea.

The Blues triggered an option to renew the deal with the veteran, reportedly to avoid the former Arsenal striker to join a direct rival in the Premier League.

Milan have targeted the centre-forward, who played 31 competitive games with Chelsea in 2020-21, scoring six goals in eight Champions League games.

Chelsea are reportedly open to let Giroud leave on a free transfer if he moves abroad this summer and Il Corriere dello Sport claims he has reached an agreement with the Rossoneri.

The newspaper reports the Diavolo has offered him a two-year contract worth €4m a season, but the striker must free himself from Chelsea before he can sign with Milan.

In fact, the report stresses that Milan will only be willing to complete the operation if he arrives on a free transfer.

Giroud, capped 107 times by France, is currently preparing for the Euro 2020 opener against Germany on Tuesday.
