Mason Greenwood will not return to Manchester United next season, according to Getafe, which hopes to keep the attacker on loan for another year.
United intend to sell the 22-year-old in the summer to collect funds for moves, with the added benefit that, as a homegrown player, he will count as pure profit in the Profitability and Sustainability Rules calculations.

However, when former chief executive Richard Arnold declared that the England international would not play for the club again, new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe hinted in February that the situation may be revisited.
Greenwood, who has 10 goals for Getafe, is believed to want to continue with the LaLiga club, but Getafe is willing to wait before any trade is finalized.
“If it was up to the lad, his parents, and the club [Getafe], I think he would continue for another year,” Getafe president Ángel Torres said to Radio Marca. “But about Manchester [United], the news that we have from last week, when the sporting director went to England to witness some games and was with them, is that if a decent offer comes up, they will want to sell since he will not return there [to Manchester].
“We’ll need to wait until the end of June. The family and athlete are quite comfortable and happy here, among our fans. When he arrived here, he had not played in 16 months. He has regained his form, scoring eight league goals and two in the Copa del Rey. The people and the coach are quite pleased with him. I believe he will stay with us for another season, or at least through January. “He is a good football player.”
