Gary Neville has joked that he would not be surprised to see Antonio Conte sacked by Chelsea next season if he guides the Blues to the title this term.
Leicester City hit the headlines on Thursday night when they chose to sack Claudio Ranieri less than nine months after the Italian led the Foxes to the Premier League title.
The move prompted plenty of reactions on social media, and former Manchester United defender Neville was quick to chime in with his views.
He tweeted: “Winning the Premier League the ‘New Poisoned Chalice’. Conte sacked next season!!”
Chelsea are currently the heavy favourites to win the Premier League title this season, with Conte’s men currently eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures.
The Blues, who finished 10th and without a trophy last season, are preparing to host Swansea City at Stamford Bridge in the top flight on Saturday afternoon as they bid to take a step closer towards winning the title.
