Frenkie De Jong Focused On Barcelona Amid Man United Rumours

Frenkie de Jong is once again being brought up in discussions regarding a potential exit from Barcelona after being the subject of transfer rumors throughout the summer transfer season.

The 25-year-old put up a valiant fight to stay at Camp Nou this summer, declining a transfer to Manchester United, who allegedly had a deal with Barcelona to sign the Dutchman.

Having initially lost his spot in the starting XI, de Jong has even worked his way back into Xavi’s side and become an essential part of the setup.

However, the interest from Manchester United continues to persist, with the Red Devils said to be planning a fresh attempt to sign de Jong again next summer.

Will De Jong Leave Barcelona?

Manager Erik ten Hag remains a huge admirer of the 25-year-old and wants him at Old Trafford.

While that may be the case, as things stand, an exit from Barcelona next summer does not look like a possibility at all, claims Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian transfer expert has claimed that de Jong is very happy at Barcelona and is fully focused on succeeding at Spotify Camp Nou.

And he is not thinking about an exit from the club. And until and unless that changes, there is no possibility of the midfielder leaving.

Romano also revealed that apart from Manchester United, de Jong continues to have admirers from Chelsea, who could lose the likes of N’Golo Kante and Jorginho in the summer.

However, the Dutch ace is focused only on Barça and is not considering an exit.

Barcelona, for their part, are understood to be happy with de Jong, with director Jordi Cruyff admitting as much recently. There have been talks about a possible new deal for the former AFC Ajax ace, albeit with a reduced salary.

It remains to be seen whether talks over such a move prove fruitful.

For now, however, a move to Manchester United does not seem to be on the table.
