French Star May Be Solution To ‘Barcelona-Midfield’ Problem

One of FC Barcelona top goals going into the summer transfer window is to sign a new pivot midfielder.

In light of Oriol Romeu’s disappointing signing, Xavi Hernandez has looked to Andreas Christensen as a potential replacement in recent months. Despite his strong performance, the Dane is not thought to be a long-term solution for the role.

Barcelona’s top priority for the summer is to add a new pivot, and Amadou Onana of Everton is being considered as the top choice.

But Barça is keeping an eye out for alternatives because they fear that his valuation and the increased competition for his services could become a problem.

Barcelona is reportedly targeting Khephren Thuram, a midfielder for France and OGC Nice in order to strengthen the pivot position, according to SPORT, reported by Barca News.

Thuram, 23, has established himself as a major player for Nice and, as a result of his exploits, he was able to make his debut for the French national team.

But the midfield player is free to sign with any club this summer, and many are interested in him because his contract with the Ligue 1 team expires in 2025.

In an attempt to add more strength and physicality to their midfield, director Deco and the sporting staff at Barcelona have joined the hunt for Thuram.

Thuram, who is 1.90 meters tall and has a powerful build, meets the requirements. The midfielder is a good option because of the tactical evolution of his game.

Thuram’s contract situation may make him available for less than his current market value of €35 million.

The question of whether Barcelona will try to sign the Frenchman still needs to be answered.
