Frank Lampard Drops Hint Ahead Of Southampton Clash

For Everton’s upcoming trip to Southampton, Frank Lampard has revealed that Dominic Calvert-Lewin may again not be risked.

The striker has yet to make an appearance for the Toffees this season.

On the eve of the new Premier League season, Calvert-Lewin suffered a knee injury.

And while he has returned to training, he was not included in Everton’s matchday squad for the 1-0 win over West Ham just before the international break.

Last season, Calvert-Lewin also struggled with a number of problems that limited him to 18 appearances and five goals.

Lampard is therefore taking precautions with the England international to avoid another breakdown. As a result, Calvert-Lewin may miss the trip to Southampton.

However, he should be available to face Manchester United on Sunday, October 9.

What Did Lampard Say?

Lampard said to Mirror: “I don’t want to go into the detail of things we have to consider and if he has a small setback it is not fair on Dominic to say what exactly the problem is now.

“The reality is if Dominic is not ready for the weekend. You might be reading between the lines on that one anyway.

“I am pretty confident that he will be ready and firing for next week.

“Then the important thing is can we keep him fit for the next eight games as a starting block and see what we can get out of him?”
