France Dealt New Illness Concern Ahead Of World Cup Final

France attacker Kingsley Coman is the third player to be struck down with illness this week as they prepare to face Argentina in the World Cup 2022 final.

The defending champions advanced to the big show with a 2-0 win over Morocco on Wednesday, despite Didier Deschamps being forced to make two changes on the night.

Adrien Rabiot and Dayot Upamecano both had cold-like symptoms, allegedly as a result of the constant air conditioning in Qatar, and neither man was able to participate in midweek.

Deschamps selected Youssouf Fofana and Ibrahima Konate into his starting lineup, and his side scored twice in the first half, through Theo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani.

France have three days to recover before facing South American champions Argentina for international glory, but according to L’Equipe, Coman is now displaying flu-like symptoms.

According to the report, the Bayern Munich attacker was unable to have lunch with his teammates on Thursday and was already feeling unwell before the semi-final win against Morocco.

Coman was an unused replacement against the Atlas Lions and is now a World Cup final doubt, though he would have been unlikely to start anyway.

The attacker has made five appearances for Les Bleus in Qatar, though four of them have been on the bench, with his sole start coming in France’s final Group D defeat to Tunisia.

On a lighter side, Rabiot and Upamecano are said to be recovering well from their sicknesses, and both men should be able to train on Thursday evening.

However, when asked about the possibility of bringing back Benzema in Wednesday’s post-game press conference, Deschamps refused to answer.
