FPL Gameweek 5 Recap: Champions League Returns, And So Does Rotations

FPL Gameweek 5 Recap: Champions League Returns, And So Does Rotations

The return of the UEFA Champions League this week may have an impact on how managers evaluate their FPL squads moving on.

Domestic rest and rotation will become more common as a number of clubs’ schedules get busier.

Meanwhile, Julian Alvarez (£6.8m) is now behind only team-mate Erling Haaland (£14.1m) for FPL points in the 2023/24 season after assisting two goals in Manchester City’s win over West Ham United.

In the same game, Alphonse Areola‘s (£4.1m) three FPL save points took him to eight for the season, more than any other goalkeeper has managed.

Elsewhere, Gabriel Martinelli (£7.9m) suffered a suspected hamstring injury during Sunday’s win over Everton, just moments after he thought he had opened the scoring, only to see his goal ruled out for offside by VAR.

The severity of the issue remains unclear, but it does make Martinelli an early doubt ahead of next weekend’s highly anticipated north London derby.

The GW6 deadline is on Saturday, 23rd September @ 13:30pm WAT.

The iSoccer GW5 Winners

With GW5 done and dusted, there also goes the League access. The iSoccer mini-league has now been locked from new entries for the rest of the season, until the next.

That leaves our 200 managers with the chance to battle it out over the course of the season.

Meanwhile, the victors in GW5 are:

1.    Frederick Bello (MONARCH’S FC)

2.    Abraham Igho (Wonder)

3.    Daniel Eloh (Supernatural FC)

4.    Omolola Alausa (Ewatomi’s Babes)

5.    Adam Abubakar (Hays)

All winners are to send in comments under this article, after which the iSoccer FPL admins will reach out.

Please Note: Winners will be contacted directly by the iSoccer FPL admins ONLY if they have dropped a comment or their team names at any point during the season. Winners who haven’t fulfilled any of the above requirements would have their win passed down to a next eligible manager (who has sent in comments).

This will be done on the next Gameweek’s Deadline Day (provided winners didn’t comment still). And once payments are made to another manager, it becomes irreversible.

Net points for the week will be used in picking winners, rather than gross points.

Also Note: Each player is entitled to only ONE team. Therefore, payments will be denied from players with more than one team, and passed to next manager.

All players are also advised to follow the social media handles and to visit the iSoccer website frequently.
