Fourth Barcelona Star Picks Up International Break Injury

Frenkie de Jong has left the camp and is going back to Barcelona, according a post from the official website of the Netherlands national team.

The 25-year-old, who hasn’t seen much action for Barça this year, started Wednesday night’s UEFA Nations League match between the Oranje and Poland.

However, manager Louis van Gaal substituted him at halftime, explaining after the game that it was a precautionary move. He also insisted that De Jong would be able to play in the upcoming encounter against Belgium.

The Dutch national team has now officially announced that De Jong has suffered a thigh injury. He will apparently return to Barcelona alongside Depay.

Meanwhile, another Barcelona star, Memphis Depay, was injured in the same game. Van Gaal announced following the game that the attacker will need to spend some time receiving medical attention.

The announcement from the national team also stated that the 28-year-old striker is also returning to Barça.

With De Jong becoming the fourth player whose injury has been officially confirmed, the international break is turning out to be a nightmare for Barcelona and her fans.
