Football Expert Claims Alonso Could Reject Liverpool For Premier League Rivals

Football expert, Guillem Balague has opened up on the offers available to Xabi Alonso if he decides to leave Bayer Leverkusen in the future.

The 43-year-old manager has been touted to take over the reins at Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp leaves at the end of the season.

Klopp declared that he would be leaving Liverpool at the conclusion of the current season.

In order to take a break, Klopp will soon leave his position at Anfield after more than eight years in the Reds dugout.

Alonso, who is currently the manager of Leverkusen, is the favorite to succeed Klopp at Anfield. The Spaniard has taken the Bundesliga side from the verge of being relegated last season to being the favourites to win the league title.

According to CaughtOffside, Balague, a Spanish football analyst on The Football News Show, has disclosed that Alonso and his agent have a “secret” plan in place.

Balague reportedly stated that Alonso feels should he succeed at Leverkusen, his top three destinations were Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich.

Alonso represented all three clubs in his playing career. And it’s clear that he felt a strong emotional bond with them.

What Did Balague Say About Clubs’ Chances Of Appointing Alonso?

“I’ll tell you a little secret,” said Balague.

“When he went to Bayer Leverkusen, he told his agent ‘do you know what, I am thinking that if it doesn’t go well at Bayer Leverkusen, I’ll go back to Real Sociedad.

“But if it goes well, from here, it’s Liverpool, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich.”

“Let me add Manchester City to the equation. And that’s where Xabi Alonso could go next. When, is a different matter,” he added.

The possibility that Alonso will join Man City is something that Liverpool supporters will not like, as Balague has confirmed.
